HLTAID009 Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. HLTAID009 Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, provides a potentially life saving skill, which is a critical for most people to have.
This course is mandatory for those working in security, childcare and education, aged care and disability and for roles including Workplace First Aiders and for Continuing Professional Development for Nursing. The ARC recommends that a CPR refresher course is undertaken every 12 months.
We run our courses as mixed mode delivery. This means you need to complete a pre-course quiz, prior to attending a 3 hour practical session. The workbook and quiz will be sent to you electronically on enrolment.
You must complete the quiz and series of associated questions and bring the completed question sheet with you on the practical training day. Do not skip components of the workbook related to CPR, you must read each section and complete all activities as this is important fundamental learning. If you do not have the completed question sheet with you on the practical training day, you will not be able to participate. The workbook and quiz will take between 1-2 hours to complete depending on your skill level.
Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the Unit of Competency HLTAID009 Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Australian Resuscitation council recommends you refresh CPR annually.
