HLTAID012 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

Overview
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.
HLTAID012 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting, applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
This course is mandatory for those working in early childhood care and education and for teaching and training staff in general, who may have to provide first aid to minors.
Course location
Fairfield campus.
Structure
We run our courses as mixed mode delivery. This means you need to complete a pre-course workbook prior to attending a 1 day practical session. The workbook will be sent to you electronically on enrollment.
Pre-requisites
You must complete the theory workbook component and bring the completed answer workbook with you on the practical training day. Do not skip components of the workbook, you must read each section and complete all activities as this is important fundamental learning. If you do not have the completed the answer workbook on the practical training day, you will not be able to participate.The workbook will take between 4-8 hours to complete depending on your skill level.
Award
Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the Unit of Competency HLTAID012 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting. The Australian Resuscitation council recommends you refresh CPR annually and your full qualification at least every three years.
